MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) Preparations have begun across Azad Jammu and Kashmir for the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha, expected to fall on May 27 subject to the sighting of the Zilhaj moon, with Muslims gearing up to observe the festival with traditional religious zeal and devotion.
Official sources said the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is expected to announce four public holidays on the occasion. Special prayers will be offered in mosques across the region for the unity and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah, stability and development of Pakistan and AJK, and the liberation of oppressed Muslim territories, including Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Eid congregations are scheduled to be held in all major cities and towns of AJK’s ten districts, including Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Bhimber, Bagh, Rawalakot and other district headquarters.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The largest congregation in the state capital is expected to take place at the Central Eidgah in Muzaffarabad, where thousands of worshippers are likely to offer Eid prayers.
Religious scholars and prayer leaders from different schools of thought will deliver sermons highlighting the significance of sacrifice and the teachings of Hazrat Ibrahim. Following Eid prayers, Muslims will sacrifice animals including camels, cows, goats and sheep in remembrance of Hazrat Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command. Authorities said comprehensive security arrangements have also been finalized at mosques, Eidgahs and other congregation venues across the territory to ensure peaceful observance of the festival.
