PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) On the occasion of 96th anniversary of the Qissa Khwani Bazaar martyrs, Awami National Party (ANP) Central President Aimal Wali Khan paid tribute to the martyrs, stating that the Qissa Khwani tragedy represents a defining chapter in the struggle between oppression and resistance.
In his message on Thursday, he recalled that on April 23, 1930, British colonial forces opened fire on unarmed and peaceful civilians at Qissa Khwani Bazaar, resulting in a massacre that became a symbol of resistance against imperial rule.
He said the brave sons of the soil chose the path of resistance instead of bowing before tyranny and it was due to such sacrifices that British colonialism was ultimately forced to leave the subcontinent.
Aimal Wali Khan also paid tribute to Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali and his fellow soldiers, who refused to open fire on unarmed civilians under his leadership, demonstrating courage and moral integrity.
He reaffirmed that they are heirs to the ideology of their forefathers, who endured hardships in every era. He highlighted that members of the Khudai Khidmatgar movement faced even greater hardships, yet they never retreated from their principles of nonviolence, democracy and resilience.
