ADC orders action against encroachments during conducts market inspection in Battagram

BATTAGRAM, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Mar, 2026) Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Battagram, Zia-ur-Rehman, visited Battagram Bazaar and reviewed various administrative arrangements and ordered strict action against temporary encroachments while also inspecting financial assistance distribution and price control mechanisms in the market.

Several individuals were arrested during the operation and shifted to jail, while shopkeepers were warned to immediately clear all obstructions from public passages. The district administration stated that with Eid shopping gaining momentum, the influx of shoppers has increased in markets, making it essential to keep roads and walkways clear to ensure smooth movement for citizens, particularly the elderly and patients.

Zia-ur-Rehman also visited the distribution center established for financial assistance under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and the Chief Minister’s Ramadan Package. He reviewed the payment process, biometric verification system and administrative arrangements, directing officials to ensure that beneficiaries receive the full amount without any deductions.

He warned that any form of unauthorized deduction would not be tolerated.

On the occasion, he instructed the Deputy Director of BISP to increase the number of biometric devices to facilitate beneficiaries and reduce overcrowding at the payment center. He also emphasized that beneficiaries should be treated with dignity and respect, while ensuring transparency and proper organization in the distribution process.

Later, accompanied by the Assistant Food Controller, the ADC carried out a surprise inspection of Battagram Bazaar. The price monitoring desk was reviewed and several shops were checked to verify the availability of essential food items and the implementation of the official price list. Shopkeepers were directed to prominently display government-approved price lists and sell essential commodities at the prescribed rates to provide relief to consumers.
