HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jul, 2026) Acting Consul General of Japan in Karachi Tamura Takahiro along with his delegation paid a courtesy call on Mayor Hyderabad Kashif Ali Shoro.

The delegation also included Ms. Fatima Hussain, Cultural and Public Affairs Assistant.

On the arrival of the two-member delegation of the Japanese Consul at the Mayor’s Secretariat, Mayor Hyderabad Kashif Ali Shoro welcomed them along with others and presented them with bouquets and traditional gifts of Sindh, Sindhi topi and ajrak.

Deputy Commissioner Zainul Aabideen Memon, Municipal Commissioner Zahoor Ahmed Lakhan, Town Chairman Abdul Ghafoor Dars, Minthar Jatoi, Adnan Rashid, Mustafa Bilal, Umair Chandio, Taj Wali Khan, People’s Party Digital Media Coordinator Huma Naqvi, Council Women Member Saba Zahoor Abbasi and others were also present in the meeting.

On this occasion, Mayor Hyderabad Kashif Ali Shoro briefed the delegation about the history, culture, local government system and urban development projects of Hyderabad and said that the current local government leadership has included the basic problems faced by the city, especially clean drinking water, drainage and improvement of roads among its top priorities.

He said that during the past one year, significant progress has been made on several projects for water supply, rehabilitation of the sewerage system and construction and repair of roads, while development work is going on rapidly to provide better local government facilities to the citizens.

Acting Consul General of Japan Mr. TAMURA Takahiro mentioned Japan’s ongoing development projects in Sindh, especially cooperation in the health and energy sectors, and said that Japan is keen to promote development cooperation with Sindh in the future as well.

He appreciated the ongoing development initiatives in Hyderabad and also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the fields of clean water, environment and solar energy. During the meeting, both sides agreed to further strengthen the friendly relations between Japan and Hyderabad, and to increase cooperation in the fields of knowledge, culture, local government, environment, education and sustainable urban development.

Finally, Mayor Hyderabad Kashif Ali Shoro thanked the Japanese delegation and expressed his determination to further promote mutual relations and cooperation in the future.
