ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-May 4th, 2026) A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale shook Islamabad, Peshawar and several other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, according to the Seismic Monitoring Centre.
The seismic activity was recorded at a depth of 125 kilometres, indicating a deep-origin quake.
Officials stated that the epicentre was located in the border region between Tajikistan and China.
Tremors were felt in multiple cities, prompting brief panic among residents, who rushed out of homes and offices in some areas.
However, the authorities confirmed that no immediate reports of casualties or property damage had been received following the earthquake.
