ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Feb, 2026) The district administration of Abbottabad has inspected 412 shops, registered five FIRs, sealed 18 business centers, arrested 12 individuals, and imposed Rs 72,000 in fines as part of its ongoing crackdown against profiteering during Ramazan.
According to the district admin sources, the actions were carried out under special directives to provide relief to citizens and ensure implementation of official price lists during Ramazan 2026.
Assistant Commissioners and Price Control Magistrates, along with 10 special teams, conducted inspections of markets, fruit and vegetable mandis, and commercial centres across the district. Legal action was taken against violators found involved in overcharging and other irregularities.
The Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) also supervised the early morning auction process at the vegetable market to ensure transparency and control over food prices.
Price monitoring desks have been established in various markets to facilitate citizens in registering complaints and to ensure the availability of essential commodities at government-notified rates. The official price list for food and poultry items was issued on February 21, 2026.
Meanwhile, Ramadan Dastarkhwans have been set up at nine locations in Abbottabad and Havelian with the support of philanthropists, traders, and welfare organisations, providing daily Iftar to 1,660 deserving individuals.
Key locations include Tayyab Erdogan Plaza, Ayub Medical Complex, Fawara Chowk, Mandian, and Ameer Muawiya Chowk, Havelian.
The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to continuing strict action against hoarding, profiteering, and illegal profiteering to ensure maximum relief to the public during Ramazan.
