3500 police personnel deployed for Pak-Australia matches

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) The first day of the five-day practice session for the Pakistan vs Australia Cricket Series 2026 commenced at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium amid stringent security and traffic arrangements by Rawalpindi Police.

According to a police spokesperson, the arrangements have been made on the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani to ensure foolproof security throughout the practice sessions and upcoming cricket series.

More than 3,500 police officers and personnel have been deployed to perform security duties, while over 300 traffic police officers are managing traffic flow and facilitating citizens around the stadium and adjoining areas.

Senior police officers remained present in the field to inspect and brief security personnel deployed at various points. Snipers have been deployed on rooftops as part of enhanced security measures.

City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani said monitoring was being carried out through Safe City and other CCTV cameras, for which a separate control room had been established to ensure effective surveillance and coordination.

Additional police contingents have been deployed at important public locations, while bus terminals and hotels are under special monitoring. Police mobiles, Elite Force, and Dolphin Squad teams are conducting regular patrolling around the stadium premises.

CPO Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani said comprehensive and effective traffic arrangements had also been put in place for the convenience of the public, adding that Rawalpindi Police was committed to ensure foolproof security for the cricket series.

Earlier, City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani along with Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema visited Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to review security arrangements for Pak Australia cricket series.
