PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Apr, 2026) The district administration launched a decisive crackdown against sale of substandard food items at Bacha Khan Chowk on Sunday, resulting in seizure and disposal of over 1,200 rotten chickens.
Led by Additional Assistant Commissioners Syed Basharat Hussain and Inayat-ur-Rehman, the operation uncovered a specialized gang that processed dead poultry for distribution throughout Peshawar. The illicit meat was reportedly destined for various local food outlets, including those selling shawarma and chicken burgers.
The joint operation included officials from Livestock and Civil Defense departments, as well as Capital Metropolitan Government.
During the raid, two members of gang were apprehended, while contaminated meat was officially taken into custody and discarded to prevent it from entering food supply.
Following the raid, Deputy Commissioner Sanaullah Khan issued a stern warning to vendors, emphasizing that strict legal action would be taken against anyone selling substandard food. He reaffirmed the administration's commitment to public safety, stating that no leniency would be shown to those who jeopardize human lives through such dangerous malpractices.
