PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Mar, 2026) The district administrations of Hangu and Kohat on Tuesdah launched a strict crackdown against overpricing and hoarding, warning traders of immediate legal action in case of violations.
In Hangu, Deputy Commissioner Gohar Zaman Wazir firmly rejected protests by some butchers against officially notified meat prices and reiterated that beef has been fixed at Rs 950 per kilogram and mutton at Rs 1,800 per kilogram.
He made it clear that even a single rupee above the approved rates would not be tolerated, adding that violators would face action under the relevant market laws.
Meanwhile, in Kohat, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir ordered surprise inspections of local markets and directed officials to take stern action against profiteers.
Traders were warned that failure to display official price lists or maintain hygiene standards could result in fines, sealing of shops and other punitive measures.
The district administrations urged citizens in both districts to promptly report incidents of overcharging and hoarding, assuring swift action to protect consumers and ensure strict enforcement of government price control measures.
