Zeeshan Rafiq reviews development projects in Attock

ATTOCK, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) Zeeshan Rafiq, Provincial Minister for Local Government and Community Development Punjab, has said that the Government of Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is taking practical steps to improve the local government system and ensure the provision of basic facilities in both urban and rural areas.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office during his visit to Attock District on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Aftab Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Aneel Saeed, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning) Nosheen Israr, political figure Malik Hameed Akbar, Assistant Commissioner Arif Qureshi, Chief Officer Sardar Aftab Ahmad Khan, Malik Ansar and other concerned officials.

Officials briefed the meeting on development initiatives under the Punjab Development Programme, particularly projects aimed at improving the sewerage and drainage systems in Attock and Hazro tehsils.

It was informed that under the programme, approximately 125 kilometres of new sewerage lines would be laid in the two tehsils, while existing sewerage infrastructure would also be cleaned and rehabilitated to make the drainage system more effective and ensure proper disposal of wastewater.

The provincial minister directed the authorities concerned to ensure timely completion of the projects so that residents could benefit from improved sanitation facilities and a cleaner environment.

Mr Rafiq said the Punjab government was prioritising development schemes aimed at addressing public issues and enhancing civic amenities across the province.

Later, the minister visited the District Council Stadium to review ongoing development work. He also inspected Raees Khana Market and Punjab’s first women’s bazaar, where he examined cleanliness arrangements and civic facilities and issued necessary instructions to the relevant authorities for further improvement.

Speaking on the occasion, MNA Sheikh Aftab Ahmad said the provincial government was taking serious steps to provide better facilities to the people of Attock through various development projects, adding that initiatives launched under the Punjab Development Programme would prove highly beneficial for the public.
