ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan on Tuesday said Pakistan must collectively move towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through active youth participation, as he addressed a ceremony on “Advancing Social and Sustainability Impact Through Youth Leadership in Pakistan” in Islamabad, where he highlighted government initiatives aimed at empowering young people through education, sports, technical training and digital opportunities.
Mr Khan said the government was undertaking significant measures for the welfare and empowerment of youth under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, adding that young people were the nation’s future and most valuable asset.
He said the government was ensuring greater opportunities for youth in the fields of education and sports and emphasised that providing opportunities for young people to progress and contribute towards national development remained a priority.
“Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals requires collective efforts, and youth have a critical role in this process,” he said, adding that technically trained and skilled youth could play a vital role in strengthening the country’s economy and future growth.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Mr Khan said the government was also working to address public issues and improve youth access to opportunities through initiatives such as the Digital Youth Hub.
Referring to what he termed “Marka-i-Haq”, he said Pakistan had achieved a “great success” and claimed that Pakistani youth demonstrated exceptional technological capabilities during the conflict, enhancing the country’s global standing.
He said the improved international image of Pakistan after the conflict had encouraged multinational companies to turn towards Pakistan, adding that the government had placed the country on the path of development and economic progress.
The event was attended by youth representatives, social sector stakeholders and participants from educational and development organisations focusing on sustainability and youth leadership initiatives in Pakistan.
