PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Feb, 2026) The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday condemned the killing of a female colleague Dr Mahjoo in Kohat the other day, saying the provincial government has completely failed to provide protection to doctors.
Speaking at a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club, YDA President Dr Asfandyar Bhattni said the tragedy could have been prevented if hospitals had basic facilities.
He warned that doctors are now forced to confront life-threatening situations daily due to the government’s failed policies.
He criticized the provincial administration for neglecting hospitals for the past 12 years and called the provincial government fully responsible for doctors’ safety.
He demanded that Dr Mahjoo’s killers be arrested immediately and protection be provided to all medical staff.
He also threatened protests and sit-ins at the Chief Minister’s House and Adiala Jail if demands are ignored, saying the government’s inaction has pushed doctors to the brink.
The YDA urged full implementation of the Doctors Protection Act and immediate provision of basic facilities to all public hospitals to prevent further bloodshed.
