WWB releases Rs. 70.46m to COMSATS Varsity for scholarships

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th May, 2026) The Workers Welfare board (WWB) has released a cheque worth Rs. 70.46 million to COMSATS University Islamabad under the scholarship funds for students studying at the University, while officials said that the remaining amount would also be released soon.

According to sources on Friday, the delay in the release of scholarship funds had created serious concern among more than 300 students and their parents after scholarship payments worth nearly Rs. 200 million were reportedly stopped by the Workers Welfare Board. The situation caused uncertainty among deserving students, many of whom belong to labour families and rely heavily on the scholarship program to continue their higher education.

Students and parents had expressed fear that the suspension of funds could affect their academic activities, fee submissions and continuation of studies. Several affected families had appealed to the authorities to resolve the issue immediately and ensure uninterrupted provision of educational assistance.

Sources said that the release of Rs. 70.46 million had provided relief to the students and their families; however, concerns still remained regarding the pending amount. Officials of the Workers Welfare Board assured that the remaining scholarship funds would also be released to the University in the near future to avoid further difficulties for students.
