PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Apr, 2026) Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) in collaboration with UNICEF, organized a one-day workshop on “Lessons Learned from WSSP’s Community Liaison Cell (CLC) Model” in which representatives from WSSCs across the province, departments of local government, public health engineering, universities, UNICEF, environment and other relevant sectors participated.
Chief Executive Officer WSSP, Yasir Ali Khan, CEO WSSC Kohat Muhammad Saad, CEO WSSC Bannu Sikandar Hayat, General Manager Operations WSSP Muhammad Ijaz and GM Planning Syed Zameer-ul-Hasan, among other officials, were present on the occasion.
The workshop participants were informed about the goals, responsibilities, targets achieved so far, community participation in services, awareness campaigns, measures to reduce the burden of waste, capacity building of staff, students, scholars and local government representatives, among other issues.
The results obtained were shared with WSSCs and other institutions and it was emphasized that the CL model should be adopted in all WSSCs to improve services.
Addressing the inaugural session, CEO Yasir Ali Khan said that the WSSP CLC model has yielded positive results.
It is an important project for cleanliness, public awareness, public participation in services, collection of bills, and interaction between staff and the public.
He offered WSSCs to benefit from WSSP’s CLC model. Addressing the concluding session, former provincial minister and member of the provincial assembly Syed Qasim Ali Shah appreciated the CLC project and said that the government is working to provide better services to the people, but public participation is indispensable in this process.
The community must be mobilized for services in other sectors, including sanitation, hygiene and water.
A proactive strategy will yield positive results. Making people aware of their responsibilities will benefit both the government and the public.
He said that no matter what the sector, the complaint comes from the community. Complaints and problems can be controlled through community liaison, while the costs of diseases can be reduced through a clean environment.
He appreciated the performance of WSSP and said that cooperation would be provided in advancing the CLC network.
