KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) International seminar to mark World Book Day and on the occasion of the death anniversary of National poet Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, was organized at the Russia Center Karachi by the Society for Promotion of Reading and Improvement of Libraries (SPRIL).
The chief guests were renowned poetess and intellectual Professor Dr. Tanveer Anjum and prominent journalist Ikhlaq Ahmed, said a statement on Wednesday.
The guest of honor was Director of the Russia Center Karachi Ruslan Prokhorov.
Among others, the participants were included Rabia Ali Fareedi, Jawahir Aleem, and Sameem Kardar from SPRIL, international librarians Loida Garcia Febo, Dr. Collence T.Chisita and SPRIL President Ikram ul Haq.
Rabia Ali Fareedi said that the Society for Promotion of Reading and Improvement of Libraries (SPRIL) and the Russian Center intend to organize programs related to library sciences in the future to keep the importance and utility of libraries and books alive.
Guest of honor and Russia Center Director Ruslan Prokhorov stated that there are deep and bright foundations of literary cooperation between Russia and Pakistan.
Both our countries have rich literary traditions, and through the promotion of books, translations, and reading, we can better understand each other and learn from one another.
At the conclusion of the event, Russian Center Director Ruslan Prokhorov presented shields to Professor Dr. Tanveer Anjum and prominent journalist Ikhlaq Ahmed, and expressed gratitude to the participants.
