Prosecutors and investigators assembled at a three-day training workshop opened here Thursday to give them insight into way forward to error-free case preparation, supported by strong evidence, so the trial can result in punishment to criminals particularly in heinous nature cases
MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) Prosecutors and investigators assembled at a three-day training workshop opened here Thursday to give them insight into way forward to error-free case preparation, supported by strong evidence, so the trial can result in punishment to criminals particularly in heinous nature cases.
Workshop was organized by the Punjab Prosecution Department.
On the opening day, detailed sessions were held on effective investigation and prosecution of murder cases.
In-charge Prosecution at the Multan Bench of the High Court, Abdul Wudood, highlighted the importance of collecting evidence in murder cases strictly in accordance with scientific and legal requirements.
Strong evidence is indispensable for a robust prosecution, and close coordination between police and prosecution is fundamental to achieving this objective, he said.
He noted that in many countries prosecutors are associated with a case from the very first day of investigation, ensuring that evidence preparation and legal aspects are guided in the right direction from the outset. However, shortage of officers hindered it becoming an institutionalized practice in Pakistan. This, he added, sometimes result in weak evidentiary foundations. He suggested that judges should also be invited to future training programs to further strengthen coordination among the judiciary, prosecution, and police, as all three institutions play a pivotal role in bringing a case to its logical and legal conclusion.
Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court, Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed, in his lecture, declared that only collective and honest efforts of the judiciary, prosecutors, police, and lawyers can deliver prompt justice to victims. He stressed that if all stakeholders discharge their official duties with integrity, it becomes possible to bring offenders to deserved punishment.
Host of the event, District Public Prosecutor Imtiaz Rasool Cheema, said the objective of the training workshop is to enhance professional skills and promote institutional harmony so as to improve the quality of prosecution in criminal cases.
Addressing the workshop online, Secretary Prosecution Punjab Salman Ghani and Prosecutor General Punjab Farhad Ali Shah said that, on the special directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, such training workshops are being organized across the province to ensure prompt and quality delivery of justice to the public. They reaffirmed the commitment to continue reforms aimed at making the prosecution service more effective and dynamic.
A question-and-answer session was also held at the end of the proceedings.
