Workers urge Sindh govt to help pay their 19 months salaries

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jul, 2026) The workforce of Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation (HW&SC) has urged Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Shah to resolve the crippling issue of non-payment of their salaries and pensions of 19 months by bailing out their organization.

In a statement issued here on Sunday Mehran Workers Union's General Secretary Aslam Bhatti and other office bearers urged the government to resume its financial support for the corporation.

They recalled that until a year ago the provincial government used to provide financial support for 2 to 3 times every year and that support helped the corporation to clear some of their pending salaries.

They blamed the corporation's officials for failing to increase revenues and for allegedly also embezzling the available funds due to which the workforce remained unpaid.

They pointed out that the existing employees and the retired ones had been organizing protests almost on a daily basis, demanding payment of their salaries and pensions.
