A local court in Burewala on Monday sentenced a woman, allegedly to be the mastermind of a honey-trap and extortion racket, and her brother to two years rigorous imprisonment each along with a fine of Rs50,000 each after finding them guilty in a year-old case

BUREWALA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jul, 2026) A local court in Burewala on Monday sentenced a woman, allegedly to be the mastermind of a honey-trap and extortion racket, and her brother to two years rigorous imprisonment each along with a fine of Rs50,000 each after finding them guilty in a year-old case.

Civil Judge Qaiser Hussain Maral announced the verdict in a case registered at Model Town Police Station. The convicts, identified as Shaista Parveen and her brother Muhammad Zahid, were taken into custody from the courtroom and shifted to jail following the judgment.

The court also awarded them one year’s imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs3,000 each for the offence of wrongful confinement.

Both sentences will run concurrently.

The prosecution was conducted by senior lawyer and former Bar President, Mehar Tahir Amjad.

According to the police, the convicts had allegedly operated an organized honey-trap network, targeting commission agents (Arhtis) and other respectable citizens of the city to extort money through blackmail.

After examining the evidence and hearing arguments from both sides, the court convicted the accused and ordered their imprisonment.
