WCLA organizes seminar on ‘’Harappa Culture: Origins of Lahore’’

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) On the directions of the Government of Punjab, WCLA successfully organized a thought-provoking seminar under its “Meet the Expert” series titled “Harappa Culture: Origins of Lahore” was held at Akbari Mahal Kutub Khana and Archives.

The seminar was featured renowned architect, historian, and academician Professor Pervaiz Vandal as the expert. During the session, he shared valuable insights into the historical and cultural roots of Lahore in connection with the ancient Harappan Civilization, highlighting the significance of preserving the region’s historical identity and heritage.

The event was attended by students, researchers, historians, architects, heritage enthusiasts, and members of civil society, who actively participated in the discussion and engaged in an interactive question-and-answer session with the expert.

Speaking about the project, Najmussaqib, Director General of the Walled City of Lahore Authority, said:

“Such academic and cultural sessions are essential for promoting awareness regarding Pakistan’s rich historical legacy and for connecting younger generations with their cultural roots. The Director General further added that WCLA remains committed to organizing meaningful intellectual and heritage-based activities in line with the vision of the Government of Punjab to preserve, promote, and celebrate the historic identity of Lahore.”

The “Meet the Expert” series is part of WCLA’s ongoing efforts to transform heritage spaces into centers of learning, dialogue, and cultural engagement for the public.
