WCLA in collaboration with RDF launch Gurmukhi Course at Lahore Fort

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) in collaboration with Rational Dialogue Forum (RDF) has launched a Gurmukhi Course (Level 1) at Lahore Fort to promote cultural understanding, linguistic heritage and interfaith harmony.

The initiative also reflects the government’s keen interest in encouraging educational and cultural activities aimed at preserving shared heritage and fostering mutual respect among communities, said a press release issued here on Monday.

The course was being conducted at Akbari Mahal Kutub Khana & Archives, Lahore Fort from May 06 to May 25, 2026 and instructed by Ustad Shabbir

This initiative has been introduced as part of WCLA’s continued efforts to preserve and promote the diverse cultural and historical heritage associated with Lahore and Punjab.

The Gurmukhi script holds significant importance in the history, literature and heritage of the region and the course aims to provide participants with a foundational understanding of the language and script.

Walled City of Lahore Authority DG Najmus Saqib stated, "Preserving Punjab’s multilingual and multicultural heritage is a key objective of WCLA. He said that under the directions of the Government of Punjab, initiatives like the Gurmukhi Course help promote cultural harmony, research and public awareness about the region’s rich historical heritage."

WCLA has invited students, researchers, heritage enthusiasts and members of the public to participate in the course and benefit from this educational initiative being hosted within the historic premises of Lahore Fort.
