WCB finalizes Eid-ul-Azha cleanliness plan, 116,000 biodegradable bags to be distributed for waste disposal

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th May, 2026) The Walton Cantonment board (WCB) has finalized comprehensive cleanliness and sanitation arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha, including the distribution of 116,000 biodegradable plastic bags for the disposal of animal waste across cantonment areas in Lahore.

According to a WCB spokesperson on Sunday, the arrangements have been completed under the leadership of President Cantonment Board Brig. Muzammil and CEO Military Land and Cantonment and Walton Cantonment Board Usman Arif. All Public Health Officials (PHOs), supervisors and contractors will remain on duty during the three days of Eid-ul-Adha.

Chief Public Health Officer Asif Mahmood Chohan briefed the media regarding Eid arrangements and sanitation measures. He said a 24-hour control room has been established at the Walton Cantonment Board office in RA Bazar to facilitate the public and address complaints through helpline number 042-99220406.

The spokesperson said Walton Cantonment areas have been divided into seven sectors for awareness and complaint management, adding that public complaints would be addressed within 25 minutes.

Six offal dumping points have also been established in different areas including DHA Phases I-V, Nishat Colony, Cavalry Ground, RA Bazar-Bhatta Chowk (Jammu Stop), Walton Road left side areas including Super Town, Shahtaj Colony, Pir Colony, Qadri Colony and Al-Noor Town, as well as Walton Road right side areas including Officer Colony, Railway Colony, Abid Road, LDA Quarters, Qainchi-Chungi Amar Sidhu, Baba-e-Pakistan and Ghazi Road.

The WCB spokesperson said cleanliness work would continue in all wards during all three days of Eid-ul-Adha from May 25 to 27. A total of 1,517 sanitation staff members and more than 374 vehicles will participate in the operation.

Asif Mahmood Chohan said biodegradable plastic bags would be distributed on May 25 and 26 in all seven sectors, while additional bags would also be available from the WCB main office on Eid days if required.

He appealed to citizens to cooperate with WCB officials to help maintain cleanliness during Eid-ul-Adha. He added that designated communal sacrifice points would be cleaned with lime and sprayed with rose water after disposal operations.
