Punjab introduced mandatory rainwater harvesting systems for new residential, commercial and institutional construction projects. The initiative aims to promote groundwater recharge, reduce water runoff and support climate-resilient urban development.
The province also mandated installation of water recycling and reuse systems in water-intensive commercial facilities such as car wash stations to reduce freshwater consumption.
According to the survey, these measures form part of broader efforts to strengthen climate resilience and ensure sustainable management of water resources across the country.
