HYDERABAD:
The Sindh High Court, Circuit Bench Hyderabad, has issued contempt of court notices to the CEO of the Hyderabad Water Corporation, Tufail Ahmed Abro, and the Director General of the Hyderabad Development Authority, Afshan Rabab, for failing to comply with court orders. Both officials have been summoned in person on May 6. The notices were issued by the Assistant Registrar of the High Court following a contempt petition filed by employees of HDA and the Water Corporation, including Jahangir Khan Junejo and others. The petitioners argued that despite clear court directives, the authorities had failed to return 62 employees to their original departments, and requested legal action for contempt. However, immediately after the issuance of the contempt notices, the Secretary of HDA issued orders to comply with the court's directives. According to the notification dated April 27, all 62 employees have now been reassigned to their respective original departments. The order states that multiple meetings were held in light of two constitutional petitions under hearing in the High Court. The service records of the petitioning employees were verified by Chief HR Management Officer of Hyderabad Water Corporation, Naeem Shoro, along with legal experts. Following this verification, their services were restored to their parent departments. As per the order, 25 employees have been reassigned to the Hyderabad Development Authority, 37 employees have been sent back to the Hyderabad Water Corporation. The directive further emphasises that the orders are effective immediately, and any discrepancies or issues in implementation will be addressed after due consideration.
