While neither the US nor Kuwaiti officials have confirmed the crash, a viral video circulating on social media shows the jet descending with flames trailing from it.

The Russian media reports indicated that the pilot was injured in the incident and has been rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.

The crash follows heightened tensions in the region.

On Saturday, after the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran, Iranian forces retaliated by targeting US military bases in several Gulf countries, including Kuwait.

The Iranian military, in a statement, claimed that it had successfully disabled a US military base in Kuwait, rendering it inoperable.
