LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Punjab launched an e-portal aimed at ensuring timely redressal of public complaints across the province.
The digital inauguration of the portal was performed by Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin. The ceremony was also attended by Chairman Punjab WASA Chaudhry Sher Ali, Parliamentary Secretary Barrister Sultan Bajwa, and Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal.
Speaking on the occasion, Bilal Yasin said that for the first time in Punjab, digital monitoring of field operations across all districts has been introduced. He added that complaints will now be addressed promptly through an integrated complaint management system and the 1334 helpline.
The minister further highlighted that geo-tagging of manholes and an open manhole detection system will also be monitored under the new system. In the initial phase, more than 3,000 open manholes have already been identified.
He stated that in 15 districts, sewerage lines and disposal stations are being constructed on an emergency basis to improve drainage. Additionally, the provision of 937 modern machines across all districts will help ensure timely drainage and resolution of routine civic issues.
Bilal Yasin termed the initiative unprecedented, noting that, for the first time in Punjab’s history, substantial funds have been allocated to effectively tackle urban flooding risks.
Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal said that 3,000 filtration plants will be installed in schools across Punjab. He emphasized that these measures are aimed at protecting citizens from contaminated water and that the availability of clean drinking water will also help reduce the burden on hospitals.
He added that the first phase of the project was expected to be completed within this year.
