WASA installs safety netting on manholes in Murree to prevent accidents

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Murree has started installing protective safety netting beneath manhole covers and iron gratings at key locations to ensure safety of tourists and residents.

The initiative has been launched in areas covering Mall Road and other sensitive and high-traffic tourist areas.

According to the WASA offigials, the safety netting would act as a secondary barrier in case of theft, damage or sudden collapse of manhole covers, helping prevent accidental falls.

"Field teams have identified vulnerable points and work is being carried out on priority, while monitoring and timely repair of covers and gratings is also being ensured", said a WASA spokesman.

Citizens and tourists have appreciated the step, expressing hope that it would help reduce accidents and improve civic infrastructure.
