SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2026) Comprehensive arrangements have been finalised to provide all possible facilities to mourners during Muharram-ul-Haram, and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) staff will remain on duty round the clock in the field, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) WASA Sargodha Hafiz Abdul Aziz said.
In an exclusive interview with APP here on Wednesday, the DMD said that on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry and WASA Managing Director Abu Bakar Imran, special teams had been deployed along all procession and congregation routes to ensure uninterrupted civic services.
He said an officer of SDO rank would accompany each procession, while water tankers would be available to provide clean drinking water. "Sabeels have also been arranged at various locations, and the sewerage system is being continuously monitored to avoid any inconvenience to mourners", he added.
The DMD said all manholes located on Muharram routes had been secured, while work was also underway to install protective safety grilles on hazardous manholes across the city.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He added that around 800 dangerous manholes had been identified, of which 500 had already been fitted with safety grilles. “A safety grille has an average lifespan of about four years and plays an important role in ensuring public safety,” he said.
Hafiz Abdul Aziz further informed that WASA’s disposal project would be made operational before the onset of the monsoon season, which would significantly improve drainage and reduce urban flooding during rains.
He added that roads and streets affected by excavation work under the ongoing sewerage project in the inner city would be restored and repaired upon completion of the project.
Highlighting consumer facilitation measures, he said that WASA was committed to providing better civic services and had introduced an installment facility for consumers who were unable to clear their dues in a single payment.
Expressing optimism about the city’s future, the DMD said that upon completion of ongoing development schemes, Sargodha would emerge as a modern, well-equipped and model city with improved urban infrastructure and public services.
