WASA directed to set up citywide emergency camps for monsoon emergencies

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) Managing Director (MD) Water And Sanitation Agency (WASA) Saqib Raza on Wednesday directed officials to ensure full preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season by establishing emergency camps across the city and expediting desilting of sewerage lines and main drainage channels.

Chairing a meeting here, he emphasized that all emergency camps must remain fully functional with round-the-clock staff availability to facilitate swift drainage of rainwater during heavy downpours.

He instructed that essential machinery including dewatering sets and sucker machines should be kept operational at all times while ensuring adequate availability of necessary equipment at the camps.

He further ordered acceleration of the ongoing desilting campaign, making it clear that cleaning of main channels and sewerage lines must be completed before the onset of the monsoon to prevent urban flooding and drainage issues.

He also directed the use of modern bucket machinery for desilting in narrow streets and congested sewerage lines to improve efficiency and coverage.

Highlighting the importance of public health, he stressed that the quality of water supplied to citizens must meet the highest standards, adding that no compromise would be tolerated in this regard.

He warned that in case of any complaint regarding contaminated water supply, immediate action should be taken to resolve the issue and water sampling must be conducted to ensure provision of clean and safe drinking water to the public.
