FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2026) Managing Director (MD) Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) Saqib Raza has appealed the citizens to refrain from throwing solid waste into manholes and drainage lines and said that public cooperation is imperative for maintaining a clean and healthy environment under “Suthra Punjab” program.
Addressing an awareness campaign launched in line with the directions of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, he said that prevention of drinking water wastage was need of the hour and keeping homes, neighborhoods and the city clean was a national responsibility that should be fulfilled with full spirit and commitment.
He said that Punjab government was implementing Suthra Punjab program across the province and active public participation was imperative for achieving its objectives.
He said that in continuation of the awareness drive, the Citizen Liaison Cell (CLC) staff of WASA Faisalabad visited Government MC High school Chenab Chowk Jhang Road where students were briefed about the “Missing Manholes Campaign” and various sanitation-related issues.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>During visit, the CLC staff delivered an awareness lecture to students and distributed pamphlets highlighting precautionary measures particularly discouraging the dumping of solid waste into manholes and sewerage lines.
Saqib Raza further appealed the citizens not to dispose of offal of sacrificial animals into main channels or drainage lines during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha days. Such practices severely affected the sewerage system and created sanitation problems in the city, he added.
He stressed that collective efforts and responsible civic behavior were necessary to ensure cleanliness and improve the urban environment in Faisalabad.
