Wanted suspect arrested injured after encounter in Hayatabad

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jul, 2026) A wanted suspect was shot and injured and arrested following a police encounter in Peshawar's Hayatabad area, while his accomplice managed to escape, police said on Tuesday.

Police were on routine patrol near Shah Kas when two armed suspects opened fire upon seeing the police party. The police retaliated, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

After the encounter, police found an injured suspect near the Phase-I graveyard in Hayatabad and took him into custody. He was identified as Zahid, a resident of Rashid Garhi.

His accomplice, identified as Sheraz, a resident of Hayatabad Phase-II, escaped from the scene.

Police said Zahid was wanted in four criminal cases, including a murder case registered in 2024. Sheraz is also wanted in multiple criminal cases.

A pistol was recovered from the arrested suspect. After receiving medical treatment, Zahid was taken into police custody for further legal proceedings and investigation.

Police have launched raids at various locations to arrest the absconding suspect.
