Wanted gang leader Alamgir killed, three accomplices flee after firing on police

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jun, 2026) The leader of an inter-provincial burglary gang was killed during an exchange of fire after suspects opened fire on a police team in the Golra police station limits.

An official told APP on Monday that a police team signalled suspicious individuals to stop during routine checking when the suspects allegedly resorted to indiscriminate firing.

The official said the police personnel remained safe due to bulletproof jackets and other protective measures adopted during the operation.

According to the official, one of the suspects, identified as Alamgir, sustained injuries during the firing and was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The official said preliminary investigation revealed that Alamgir was a wanted and previously convicted criminal involved in more than 20 cases registered in Islamabad, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Police recovered two mobile phones, a motorcycle allegedly used in criminal activities and a pistol along with ammunition from the possession of the deceased suspect.

The official said three accomplices managed to escape from the scene, while search operations were underway to trace and arrest them.

Islamabad Police have launched further investigation into the incident and are continuing operations against criminal elements without discrimination, the official added.
