Walk organized to educate people about thalassemia

CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) A local welfare group here on Tuesday organized an annual awareness walk on thalassemia , aiming to educate the public about the prevention and treatment of the genetic blood disorder.

The event, arranged by the Peace Welfare Organization, was attended by members of civil society, local administration officials, and volunteers, including activist Mehr Shahd.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the organization, Muhammad Salman Beg, thanked participants for their involvement, adding the walk was intended to highlight the seriousness of thalassemia and the importance of blood donation.

“Your participation not only strengthens our efforts but also contributes to building a healthier society,” he said, urging the public to raise awareness and take preventive measures against the disease.

Thalassemia is an inherited condition that affects the body’s ability to produce hemoglobin, often requiring regular blood transfusions for survival.
