SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Feb, 2026) A recent collapse of an alleged illegal dam in Chak 126 SB, Sargodha on Tuesday resulted in widespread damage, affecting local crops, livestock and nearby WAPDA infrastructure.

Residents of the area have raised concerns over the dam's construction on government land, specifically property owned by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

According to local reports, the breach of the dam caused toxic hill water to flood hundreds of acres of standing crops, while several homes were also damaged.

In addition, the toxic water inundated a nearby WAPDA pole plant, leading to significant damage to utility assets.

Farmers and villagers described the flood waters as still standing in fields, which has severely hampered recovery and ongoing agricultural activities.

Several local residents claimed that efforts to rebuild the dam at the same site were quickly halted by community members, who feared further destruction.

The affected residents have expressed frustration, accusing officials from the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) of neglecting to take action against the illegal construction, despite it being in place for several years.

Even after the collapse, they allege,no effective measures were taken to prevent further damage or rebuild the structure.

In response, the affected villagers have called on Federal Minister for Water and Power,Sardar Awais Khan Leghari and FESCO’s Chief Executive Officer to intervene and address the situation promptly to prevent additional losses.

FESCO authorities have confirmed that they were aware of the matter and have promised that appropriate action will be taken against those responsible for the illegal dam's construction.

The situation remains critical, with local residents urging swift government intervention to mitigate further damage to both public and private property.
