Veteran Actor Asim Bukhari Passes Away at 76 in Lahore

Veteran Pakistani actor Asim Bukhari has passed away at the age of 76 after his health deteriorated sharply, his son Ajlal Bukhari confirmed on Instagram. The news of his demise was also reported by Radio Pakistan.

The actor had had severe illnesses, including heart and kidney conditions and was believed to have been in a coma on Wednesday. Previously, Ajlal had asked people to pray to God to heal his father.

Asim Bukhari was a renowned personality in the Urdu and Punjabi entertainment world. He was also well known as an actor in drama serials, films, including Sona Chandi (1982), Andhera Ujala (1984), Dubai Chalo (1979), and Badmash Gujjar (2001). The final project he worked on was the 2024 PTV drama serial Tootay Pattay.

Asim Bukhari was given the Presidential Pride of Performance Award in consideration of his role in the entertainment industry.

Last July, the actor had encountered a significant health crisis: a heart attack that forced him to be hospitalized because of fluid in his lungs and kidney trouble. Before this last decay of his health he had fully recuperated.

The family of Asim Bukhari announced that today, March 12, Asim Bukhari will be offered the funeral prayers at Jamia Masjid Al-Rasheed of Bahria Orchard in Lahore immediately after Asr prayers.
