Vehari, Multan shine as CM Punjab inter-district Badminton Championship concludes in Multan

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jul, 2026) The CM Punjab Inter-District Badminton Championship concluded successfully in Multan under the annual Calendar of the Punjab Youth Affairs and Sports Department with Vehari and Multan emerging champions in different categories.

The competition was part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's Youth Year 2026 initiative and featured exciting contests among teams from all four districts of Multan division including Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran and Vehari. Competitions were held in the Under-23 Boys and Open Women categories.

In the Under-23 boys' final, Vehari defeated Multan by 3-1 to clinch the championship title. In the women's final, Multan outclassed Vehari 3-0 to emerge as champions.

The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by Divisional Sports Officer Multan Ata-ur-Rehman Khan, while international athlete and MEPCO Director Sports Razia Sultana attended as the chief guest.

District Sports Officers Adnan Naeem (Multan), Muhammad Hafeez (Khanewal), Sajid Mahmood (Lodhran) and Asim Bhatti (Vehari), along with Saba Habib, Anees Khan, Waqar Ahmed and Nasir Hussain, were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Razia Sultana said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was taking commendable steps to promote women's development through sports. She said Multan was rich in sporting talent and every effort was being made to identify and nurture young athletes by providing them with modern facilities.

Ata-ur-Rehman Khan said the Sports Department's Primary objective was to promote sports and equip players with modern training opportunities, enabling young athletes to utilize their abilities and bring laurels to Pakistan at the international level.

At the end of the ceremony, medals, trophies and certificates were awarded to the winning and runner-up teams in both the boys' and women's categories.
