ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th May, 2026) Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Sohail Ashraf, along with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtayev, on Saturday visited the under-construction Babar Park on Faisal Avenue, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening city-level cooperation and beautification initiatives.
During the visit, CDA officials briefed the delegation on the design and construction progress of the park, stating that the project was being developed under the supervision of Uzbek designers and experts with a focus on eco-friendly plantation and landscaping.
The briefing highlighted that high construction standards would be maintained in all aspects of the project to ensure the park emerges as a major recreational and cultural landmark in the Federal capital.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Alisher Tukhtayev said Babar Park would be counted among the finest parks in Islamabad and described it as a special gift from the government of Uzbekistan to the people of Pakistan.
He said the project would serve as a symbol of enduring friendship, brotherhood and shared historical and cultural relations between the peoples of Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

He said the CDA would extend full support for the timely completion of the project, adding that Pakistan and Uzbekistan enjoyed deep-rooted and strong bilateral relations.
Member Environment Abdullah Khurram Niazi, Director Development and Finance Bushra Rao and other senior officers also accompanied the delegation during the visit.
Later, the CDA chairman and the Uzbek ambassador visited Tashkent Road, where officials informed them that the road had been named in recognition of the historic and brotherly ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
Chairman CDA directed authorities to undertake beautification work on Tashkent Road and emphasized collaborative efforts for upgrading various public spaces in Islamabad.
Both sides also reaffirmed their resolve to further expand cooperation for urban beautification and development initiatives in the capital city.
