Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, in a statement shared on social media platform X, said the war must be stopped without delay, warning that continued escalation would further deteriorate the situation
WASHINGTON: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 23rd, 2026) Leading Democratic lawmakers in the United States have intensified criticism over the ongoing Iran-related conflict, urging former President Donald Trump to bring it to an immediate end.
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, in a statement shared on social media platform X, said the war must be stopped without delay, warning that continued escalation would further deteriorate the situation.
He described the conflict as “devastating” and said it was worsening “day by day.”
Schumer also argued that the prolonged conflict was weakening the United States’ economy, military readiness, and national security.
Separately, California Governor Gavin Newsom called on Trump to end what he termed an “unnecessary war” with Iran.
He said rising inflation and increased fuel prices in the country were linked to the former president’s policies.
In another development, Senator Tammy Baldwin, who has introduced a resolution aimed at limiting presidential war powers, said the conflict had brought only inflation and personal loss, with no tangible benefits for the American public.
