US, Iran delegations may visit Islamabad for fresh round of talks

The two sides may arrive in Islamabad for fresh round of talks this week for renewed peace discussions, Reuters reports

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 14th, 2026) The delegations from the United States and Iran are expected to return to Islamabad in the coming days for a new round of diplomatic talks, according to international media reports.

Citing sources, a British news agency reported that the two sides may arrive in Pakistan this week for renewed peace discussions.

An official from the Iranian Embassy in Pakistan also confirmed to the agency that the next phase of US–Iran talks could take place later this week or early next week.

Earlier reports by an American news agency, citing two Pakistani officials, had stated that Pakistan had offered to host the second phase of negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

It was further reported that the talks could potentially be held in Islamabad on Thursday.

Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance has thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their role in facilitating dialogue between the two countries.

He appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in mediating between Washington and Tehran, noting that Islamabad had demonstrated “statesmanship” in helping enable engagement between two sides that have long lacked sustained direct negotiations.
