Natalie A. Baker says she spends her free time travelling across Pakistan, meeting friends and exploring different cities and cultural experiences
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June 17th, 2026) US Charge d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker on Wednesday expressed admiration for Pakistan’s hospitality, food, cricket culture and wedding traditions, saying that the country’s people make visitors feel “like family.”
In an interview shared on the US Embassy Islamabad’s official Instagram account, Natalie A. Baker said she spends her free time travelling across Pakistan, meeting friends and exploring different cities and cultural experiences.
She said she has also developed an interest in cricket since her posting in Pakistan, although she is still learning the rules of the game. Describing cricket as “a little complicated,” she added that she enjoys attending matches whenever possible and cheering for the Pakistan national team.
Highlighting cultural understanding between the two countries, Baker said the warmth and hospitality of Pakistani people stood out the most during her stay, adding that visitors are often welcomed with exceptional generosity and made to feel at home.
She also spoke about Pakistani cuisine, saying she particularly enjoys palak paneer and dal, which she described as “very tasty.

When asked about American food she would recommend, Baker mentioned breakfast tacos from San Antonio, Texas — her hometown — as her top choice. She also recommended trying Texas-style barbecue, describing it as another signature dish from the United States.
Reflecting on cultural traditions, she said Pakistani weddings are among her favourite experiences in the country. She described the multi-day celebrations — from mehndi to barat and valima — as vibrant and memorable occasions filled with joy and colour.
Baker added that she has been invited to several weddings during her time in Pakistan, noting that brides “look like princesses” and that the events are full of energy, happiness and rich cultural expression.
