UoS, Sargodha Chamber sign MoU to strengthen industry-academia collaboration

The University of Sargodha (UoS) and Sargodha Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCC&I)

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2026) The University of Sargodha (UoS) and Sargodha Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCC&I)

on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening industry-academia collaboration through internships, graduate placements, joint research and skill development initiatives.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas attended the signing ceremony as the chief guest,

while SCC&I President Khawaja Yasir Qayyum hosted the event. The MoU was signed in

the presence of Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan, Dean Faculty of Agriculture

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, and Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal, along with

representatives of the local business community.

Under the agreement, the two institutions would collaborate to facilitate internship opportunities,

graduate recruitment, industry exposure and professional training for UoS students. The partnership

also envisages joint seminars, workshops, research collaborations, entrepreneurship initiatives

and academic support to enhance students' employability and bridge the gap between academia

and industry.

Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas highlighted the university's academic achievements,

ongoing development projects and internationalization initiatives, including the proposed UoS China

Campus and the 600-bed teaching hospital project in Sargodha. He also called for closer cooperation

with SCC&I in areas such as the Skill Development Centre and the Centre of Excellence for Citrus

Research.

The vice chancellor announced the establishment of a dedicated office for SCC&I members on the

university campus to further strengthen institutional coordination and promote collaborative projects

between academia and industry.

During the meeting, both sides also discussed progress on the Centre of Excellence for Citrus

Research and explored future joint initiatives to support innovation, research commercialization

and regional economic development.

The ceremony concluded with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to building sustainable

industry-academia linkages that would create meaningful opportunities for students, researchers

and the business community of Sargodha.
