Unity much needed to overcome challenges: Commissioner

SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Mar, 2026) On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Commissioner Hafiz Shaukat Ali chaired a meeting of the Divisional Peace Committee (DPC) to maintain law and order across the division.

The meeting was attended by RPO Shahzad Asif Khan, Deputy Commissioners, DPOs, officers of law enforcement agencies and Ulema of different schools of thought. A detailed review of security arrangements was taken in the meeting.

The Commissioner appreciated the role of the scholars and said that their role in establishing peace has always been prominent and mutual unity and consensus are indispensable in the current circumstances. He stressed that the message of tolerance, patience, brotherhood and unity should be spread from the pulpit and full cooperation with the state institutions should be continued. The Commissioner made it clear that there would be no compromise on the security of the dear homeland.

RPO Shahzad Asif Khan thanked the scholars and said that the recent rallies were peaceful in which the positive role of scholars of all schools of thought was commendable. He said that enemy elements are trying to spread chaos through social media, therefore, it is the need of the hour to convey a correct and responsible message to the younger generation.

Addressing the meeting, scholars Maulana Intizar Hussain Mehdi and Ahmed Masood Zahidi said, "Those who damage public or private property under the guise of protest are not among us." He expressed pride in the achievements of the Pakistan Army against Fitna-al-Khawarij and paid tribute to the martyrs of Dajjal Check Post Bhakkar. They said, "We are all one for the protection of the country and stand by the administration and the Pakistan Army."

Other scholars participating in the meeting issued a joint statement and expressed their determination that peace will be maintained at all costs and all schools of thought will remain united.

Deputy Commissioners, DPOs and members of the Peace Committee of Khushab, Mianwali and Bhakkar participated through video link, while Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry and other scholars Abdullah Saeed Hashmi, Irfanullah Sanai were also present in the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, special prayers were also offered for the security of the country and the nation, the success of the Pakistani armed forces and the unity and harmony of the Muslim Ummah.
