Underground pedestrian passage at Data Darbar begins

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) Under the Bhati Gate and Data Darbar remodeling project, an underground pedestrian passage is being constructed for the first time at the gates of the inner city, which is being described as a significant urban innovation.

Sources in the district administration said that keeping in view the project, a regular parking stand will be established near the place where the Bhati Gate tragedy took place.

This parking will not only reduce the pressure of random vehicles but will also start the underground passage from there.

This underground passage, about two hundred feet long, will go straight to the shrine of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh, thus the pilgrims will get direct access without crossing the road.
