Uncle shoots dead niece over marriage dispute: DI Khan

DERA ISMAEL KHAN May 20 (APP) , (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 20th May, 2026) An 18-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by her uncle over a marriage dispute in the limits of Cantonment Police Station.

According to police, the incident took place in Mohallah Anwar Faqir, Muryali area. The victim, identified as Kanwal Bibi, daughter of Inayatullah, was reportedly killed after expressing her desire to marry at a place of her own choice.

The case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s grandfather, Ghulam Sadiq, son of Ghulam Muhammad Baloch.

In his report to police, he stated that he was inside a room at his house when he suddenly heard a gunshot. Upon rushing to the courtyard, he found his granddaughter lying dead in a pool of blood.

He alleged that his son and the victim’s uncle, Muhammad Zeeshan, was standing near the body holding a pistol and had shot Kanwal Bibi over opposition to her proposed marriage choice.

The body was shifted to Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. The police registered a case against the accused while further investigation is underway.
