Uncle kills niece in name of honor

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) A 21-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by her uncle here over a dispute related to a love marriage, said police on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Faqirabad area of the city, where the accused reportedly entered the house and opened fire on his niece, killing her on the spot.

Police said the victim’s mother, Shano Bibi, filed a report stating that her daughter had married a man named Adil three years ago against the family’s will. Adil later died and the woman reportedly wished to marry her brother-in-law afterward.

According to investigators, tensions within the family had continued since the victim’s earlier love marriage. Police also revealed that the victim’s husband, Adil, had allegedly been killed previously in a police encounter, further complicating the family dispute.

Police added that the accused uncle had earlier allegedly killed the victim’s brother-in-law as well.

A case has been registered, and police have launched raids to arrest the suspect, who remains at large.
