PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2026) In a significant step toward women’s empowerment and the provision of dignified livelihood opportunities, UN Women Pakistan, under the Code for Pakistan project, has announced free IT education and professional training for 6,000 educated women across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Under this initiative, women from Peshawar, Mardan, and Swabi will be equipped with modern digital skills, enabling them to earn a lawful income through social media and other digital platforms.
A delegation of the foundation met Riaz Khan Mehsud, Commissioner Peshawar Division, at his office and briefed him on the project and other ongoing initiatives aimed at women’s welfare.
According to project officials, 3,000 women in Peshawar will receive free IT education at 12 different centers, while 1,500 women each in Mardan and Swabi will be trained in advanced IT skills and online employment opportunities.
The training centers are scheduled to formally commence operations from February 26.
Appreciating the initiative, the Commissioner Peshawar Division praised the efforts of the foundation and assured full support from the provincial government.
He said the initiative is expected to play a pivotal role in equipping women with digital skills, fostering economic independence, and ensuring a secure and dignified future for them.
He directed relevant officers to maintain close coordination with the foundation to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to providing women with professional opportunities on par with men and utilizing all available resources to promote their economic self-reliance.
