Ulema Council Pakistan (UCP) Chairman Sahibzada Zahid Mahmood Qasmi has appealed the public to maintain unity, harmony and cleanliness during Ashra-e-Zilhajj and Eidul Azha celebrations
FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) Ulema Council Pakistan (UCP) Chairman Sahibzada Zahid Mahmood Qasmi has appealed the public to maintain unity, harmony and cleanliness during Ashra-e-Zilhajj and Eidul Azha celebrations.
Addressing a Juma congregation in connection with the arrival of Eidul Azha and the first ten days of Zilhajj, he said that the Muslim Ummah should demonstrate unity and convey Islam’s message of moderation, peace and tolerance to the world.
He said that the first ten days of Zilhajj are highly sacred and provide an opportunity for Muslims to strengthen belief in the oneness of Allah Almighty and seek His blessings and mercy through repentance, worship and sacrifice.
Zahid Qasmi said that the spirit of sacrifice, devotion and returning towards Allah Almighty during these blessed days is highly valued in Islam. Eidul Azha conveys a message of sacrifice, brotherhood, tolerance and selflessness, he added.
He stressed the need to maintain religious harmony, national unity and inter-sect cohesion across the country during Eid celebrations so that no anti-state or mischievous elements could harm the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He appealed to the people belonging to all schools of thought to demonstrate solidarity and celebrate Eid in an atmosphere of peace, love and mutual respect.
Highlighting the importance of cleanliness, he said that sanitation and hygiene are essential teachings of islam and keeping the environment clean during Eidul Azha is both a religious and moral responsibility of every citizen.
He also appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the staff engaged in “Suthra Punjab” cleanliness campaign and avoid throwing offal and waste of sacrificial animals on roads, streets and open places.
He urged the public to dispose of garbage and animal waste only at designated dumping points and garbage bins to help maintain a healthy and clean environment.
Maulana Zahid Qasmi also called upon religious scholars and citizens to play an active role in making the government’s “Suthra Punjab” vision successful through public awareness and practical cooperation.
Later, special prayers were offered for acceptance of sacrifices and worship of Muslims as well as for peace, prosperity and development of the country.
