LODHRAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) Two sewer men died after inhaling toxic gas while cleaning a sewer line near Jalalpur Mor in Lodhran late Tuesday night.
According to official sources, the tragic incident occurred around midnight when the workers entered a sewer manhole for cleaning operation and were overcome by poisonous gases accumulated inside the drain.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ashraf immediately rushed to the scene along with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Liaqat Ali Gilani and Assistant Commissioner Farrukh Ullah Khan. Despite emergency medical treatment, both workers died.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ashraf ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

He said that FIR had been registered against the concerned WASA officials.
Meanwhile, taking immediate notice of the tragic incident, Secretary Housing Punjab directed authorities to register a criminal case against those responsible,.
Acting on the directives, police registered a case at City Police Station against WASA Lodhran Managing Director Javed Akhtar, Site In-Charge Roshan Rehan and Supervisor.
The Secretary Housing also suspended WASA Lodhran Managing Director Javed Akhtar and ordered a departmental inquiry under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act against all three officials.
