Two security personnel martyred as militants storm police, customs stations in DI Khan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Feb, 2026) Militants of Fitna-al-Khawarij launched a late-night assault on Yarik Police Station and a nearby Customs post in Dera Ismail Khan, killing two security personnel, injuring three others, and setting government vehicles ablaze before fleeing the scene.

According to police, heavily armed attackers targeted the Customs post located within the jurisdiction of Yarik Police Station. An intense exchange of fire ensued between the assailants and security personnel. During the attack, Customs Constable Muhammad Israr embraced martyrdom, while Constable Nauman sustained injuries. The militants also abducted one Customs official and took him along while retreating. Two vehicles parked inside the Customs premises were set on fire.

The attackers simultaneously carried out an assault on Yarik Police Station, using heavy weapons. The police responded with strong retaliatory fire. As a result, Police Constable Muhammad Bilal was martyred, while Constables Hazrat Umar and Khayal Muhammad got injured.

Following the incident, District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada, along with SP City Murtaza Khan Bangash and SP Paharpur Iqbal Baloch, reached the scene with a heavy contingent of police. The area was cordoned off and a search operation was launched to trace the fleeing militants and recover the abducted official.

Security in and around the area has been further tightened as investigations into the coordinated attacks are underway.
