Two proclaimed offenders arrested injured in DIKhan police encounter

Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) Two notorious proclaimed offenders belonging to a dacoit gang were arrested in an injured condition after a police encounter in the Band Dhappanwala area, District police said on Sunday.

According to the police spokesman, acting on credible information about the presence of an armed gang, a police team led by DSP City Circle Malik Abid Iqbal, under the supervision of SP City Muhammad Nauman and SHOs of City and Cantt police stations on the directives of District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmad, conducted a raid in the area.

As the police reached the location, the suspects opened fire, prompting an exchange of gunfire. During the encounter, two wanted criminals, identified as Zafarullah and his accomplice Muhammad Waqas, were injured and apprehended on the spot.

The police team remained unharmed.

Police recovered one motorcycle and two pistols from the possession of the arrested suspects.

Officials said Zafarullah was a proclaimed offender involved in multiple cases of robbery, theft, and other serious crimes registered at different police stations, including Cantt, Shorkot, City, and Dera Town.

Similarly, Muhammad Waqas was also wanted in several criminal cases.

The injured suspects were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment and are in police custody.

DPO Ziauddin Ahmad appreciated the performance of DSP City Malik Abid Iqbal and his team, commending their timely action and professionalism in apprehending the suspects.
