Two persons held for illegal deductions in Nigahban Card

KHANEWAL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) Police in Thatta Sadiqabad have arrested two shopkeepers and registered criminal cases against them for making unauthorized deductions from the disbursements of the Ramazan Nigahban Card program. The crackdown follows several public complaints regarding vendors exploiting beneficiaries of the government relief scheme.

In the first incident, the Thatta Sadiqabad police apprehended Hafiz Muhammad Naveed at Shakeel Karyana Store after he reportedly deducted 200 rupees from a 10,000-rupee payment intended for a local resident, Muhammad Saghir. Investigations indicated that Naveed had been consistently overcharging other cardholders as well. SHO Malik Sarfaraz led the operation, resulting in the suspect being booked under Section 420 for fraud.

A second arrest was made at Faisal mobile Shop located at Adda Maulay Wala on the Multan-Dunyapur Road. The shopkeeper, Usama Ali, was caught charging 300 rupees each from beneficiaries Farman and Ali Sher during their 10,000-rupee cash withdrawals. Following immediate complaints from the victims, the police took Ali into custody and registered a formal case against him.

District Police Officer (DPO) Khanewal, Ismail-ur-Rehman Kharak, emphasized that illegal deductions from the Ramazan Nigahban Card funds would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He stated the police remain vigilant and will continue to take strict legal action against anyone found exploiting citizens receiving government assistance.
